For once, Africa is well represented in Global Fund committees. Indeed, seven Africans have been appointed by the Global Fund Board of Directors o to sit on the three Global Fund committees: the Audit and Finance Committee, the Ethics and Governance Committee and the Strategy Committee. They were selected to serve in their personal capacity. The Committees provide decision-making, advisory and oversight support to the Board. Each constituency should at any one time be represented in all the committees. Committee members bring a range of appropriate skills and experiences from different backgrounds to provide technical expertise and insight.
They have been nominated for two years and their term began after the May 2020 Board meeting.
Each committee has delegated authority from the Board to perform decision-making, advisory and oversight functions in their specific areas. Coordination of the work of the committees and the Board is managed by the Coordinating Group.
